Finally time for Bråvalla Festival, something I've been looking forward to for weeks now! It was better than I ever could have expected! I'll be working some with WiMP this summer :) It's a music streaming service with HiFi-music. Here with my colleague Felizia!
The festival was located in Norrköping, about two hours drive from Stockholm. We got to stay there all days, Thursday - Sunday.
Our first interview was with these wonderful young guys in Bombay Bicycle Club. Jamie MacColl (guitar) and Suren De Saram (drums) talked about Swedish girls and how bad they're at dancing. I made this one-minute-video-interview with them. If one minute wasn't enough you can read more here.
Next up: Imagine Dragons!!!! We had so much fun and could not stop talking... We had a long discussion about who would be what character in Lord Of The Rings. Haha! Mentioned got Gollum, Saruman and some dwarf. You've probably heard their song 'Demons' :) Their concert was super super great too!!!
Lana Del Rey was one of my favorite gigs from our first day at Bråvalla (Thursday). She started to eat gum, smoked cigarettes and drank some sort of coffee-drink while being on stage. Well she's able to it all, we loved it. And singing in sunset made the concert even better!
Sam Smith. I'm speechless. Wow. Soooo good. Top three from Bråvalla for sure. He came on stage around midnight Thursday night and it was just the perfect ending to our first day at the festival.
Day two started with interviewing Foxes. She was really cool and loads of people think she did one of the best performances at Bråvalla. Her song 'Let go For Tonight' really made people let go of the night, dancing like crazy! I'm about to finish a one-minute-video-interview with her. To be posted very soon!
We met Steve, drummer in Placebo, really late on Friday evening and were a bit tired... but he gave us so much energy!
He joined Placebo in 2007 and when we asked him what makes a band stay together for so long (20 years) he said that 'you just stick together'. Like his parents do in their relationship, he said. Read about Placebo in this interview by Nora.
This gig also belongs to one of my favorites, with Kings Of Leon. I loved the lighting and the sound was sehr gut. It had been raining all day so people in the front basically stood in water and mud getting all dirty. But hey, it's was a rock concert!
The day after.... we had some work to do and went to the festival early. We were sitting in the press-room were they had wifi and coffee!
On Friday it started to rain a lot and lighting hit in the midst of a camping area.. ten people got hurt, some very bad. One of them is still at the hospital in a "really critical condition". We heard a big load sound and when we got to hear what happened a lot of people got really sad. A big big tragedy. And poor people who had to stay outside in their wet tents that night... I was lucky enough to stay at a hotel.
It's been a really intense weekend, but I'm very very happy. I saw so many nice bands perform and met awesome people! Later this summer I'll also be with WiMP at Way Out West and Stockholm Music & Arts with artists such as Neil Young and Robyn. Can't wait!!!
Thank you WiMP, my colleagues Nora & Felizia and all the great people I met for making this a fantastic festival! Puss /Sandy
